I understand where you are coming from, guys.  If you have a better suggestion, by all means - make it!  If not, you may want to consider changing your vote to reflect the name you prefer, as I expect one of the two to be the final winner.  We'll have to have a landslide of "I hate both" votes - with some good third option - for that to end up really swaying things.

I like the brew united, but it just doesn't flow off the tongue or have the magical ring to it when I hear it.

I was thinking something like brewersunited or brewersvillage. Comes across as being owned/built by the brewers. It's made for the brewers. Or HomebrewVillage

Or what about WorldOfBrewing.com?

My 2 cents: Homebrewing is an awesome hobby for all sorts of people, and as a general rule, the community is very welcoming to newbies of all types. That being said, what's wrong with a site that caters to a particular subset within the larger brewing community? For example, the rather succcessful site geekdad.com ran on its own for quite a few years; a few women posted to it, but to be blunt, it was mainly by dads for dads. Now there's a geekmom.com, which was spun out on its own by a few of the women connected to the guys who ran geekdad, but it's completely it's own thing. Both sites cater to a particular subset (moms and dads, respectively) of a larger community (geeks)

If you're looking to build a community that is big and broad, then a name change makes sense. If you're looking to cater to a particular subset (and I don't think there's anything wrong with that), then maybe the name change is not necessary.

Personally, I like this and other brewing sites, and would like one that particularly focuses on the awesomeness and challenges of a hobby like brewing and being a dad. Time management, if/when to get your kids invovled, that kind of thing.

Most of those are not available, BrewerBrad (worldofbrewing was one of the first things I checked).  I'm afraid that this is the problem with most of the "I hate both" voters - they have good ideas, but they aren't possible.  That means that your preference is not going to end up being counted if you leave your vote to "I have both".

Note that you can always visit the voting link again and vote again - it will imply update what you have done.

I think out of the two BrewingVillage is my preferred because it seems to capture the nature of the community better.  BrewUnited makes me think the logo should be a raised fist clenching some hop bines, and the site is going to be the home of a political lobby.  It doesn't sound as welcoming, and this site is nothing if not welcoming (good job with that by the way!).

That said, I voted that I hated both of them, only because there wasn't an option for "I sort of dislike both of these."

Matt, I agree that there is nothing wrong with catering to one subset.  That was really never the goal, here.  Homebrewdad was my personal blog name, but it doesn't fit the vision that I have of this broad, welcoming community.

I don't really like either, but out of the 2, "brewunited" has a better ring to it.  "Brewingvillage" sounds like you're just trying to be another HomeBrewTalk, which may or may not be what you are trying to do.  Both of them sound a little forced, to me, especially on the heels of that "needs a woman's touch" post.  It just reeks of trying to be all things to all people.  Personally, I'd prefer a strong identity; do one thing and do that one thing well, that sort of thing.  There's no shame in being "homebrewdad", and I think that a woman who homebrews isn't going to be so short-sighted as to avoid reading the site just because she herself cannot be a "homebrewdad".  I don't find it exclusionary any more than a blog like "the Food Babe" (which I abhor, but that's another story).

Now, if the whole goal is to shift away from a blog and towards a forum or community, then maybe a name change starts to make sense.  It's just unfortunate that the whole "homebrewdad" thing has to die as a casualty of this.  It was unique and it offered a different perspective than a lot of the other brewing-related sites.

lol... we are never going to be a political lobby, unless it's to encourage people to remind their state legislators to vote for more homebrewing-friendly laws.

Extrakuhar - I say again, you may want to update your vote.  If you don't have a great third option, a vote for "I hate both" is essentially a vote for "you guys pick for me".

It sounds more like a soccer team to me than a political lobby.  Lol.

Douglas, I get where you are coming from (lol @ soccer team).  Please note that my own personal blog will continue to be "Homebrew Dad".  The .com will go away, but my blog will not change.

As stated to others, you may want to update your vote to reflect your preference.

This may seem too obvious, but it looks like "homebrewcommunity.com" is available.

Yeah, but that's a long domain name to type, and to me, feels pretty generic.  "Hello, I'm a member of HomeBrewCommunity".  "Okay, what's it called?"

Good point.  It does sound pretty generic.
