Unfortunately any brewing knowledge base I have stops after high-gravity beers and wood. And not the king yet! Once I win an NHC gold medal for a big beer (lifetime pursuit), I'll get t-shirts made.

Not sure if you follow Chris Colby's site - Beerandwinejournal.com

He is local to me (Bastrop, Tx) - we have tossed back a few discussing things like reiterative mashing, using DME in the mash to increase fermentability - as opposed to simply chucking it in the boil and he recently posted one on declining mash efficiency - all related to your topic.
