I have a pretty massive chiller (60' of 5/8 tube) and its kind of a pain in the ass to use because of the weight.  Im getting worried about the coils bending a bit here and there use after use, so i want to 'tie' them together with some copper wire (like the Jaded chillers do)

First question: copper wire like this should be safe to use, right?  I dont see anything about coating on it, etc.

Next question: I can get 18 or 24 ga easily.  18 ga is .0475 in diameter, and 24 is .023 if im reading my machinery's handbook correctly.  The 24ga seems just a tad small, and the packaging shows that it'll handle 4lbs (im sure the actual is much higher than that...)

I'd normally just go with the 18, but its a bit easier for me to get to a store that has the 24, so im wondering what everyone thinks about just going with that.  With a 100' roll i should be able to make at least 3 weaves (so 120 degrees apart) holding it together, which should be sufficient I'd think?

I bet the 24 will be fine, seeing as how each piece will have less than 4 pound of pressure on it.

Very far from pretty, but much, much more functional than it was before.
