I'm desperately wanting to get my Kentucky Common kegged, but I don't have a free keg. I had thought that my IPA had to be almost empty, but it just. keeps. coming.

I know, I know... terrible problem to have. Too much tasty beer. Poor me.

Bottle? Nah, I'm looking for quick turnaround. And also looking to not have to clean bottles.

I'm considering bottling what's left on the keg. But again, I'll have to clean bottles. Le sigh.

We really have convinced Olan to come over to the light side.

Yay!

I don't mind bottling itself, but I HATE cleaning and sanitizing bottles. Especially since I apparently have to double sanitize them to avoid infections.

Heck, I have gotten super lazy. If I'm sharing beer, I just... ahem... wash the bottles and fill them off the keg. I figure if I'm giving somebody one or two bottles, they're gonan drink them before any possible wild yeast take hold, anyway.

Obviously, I'll still sanitize for competitions, for shipping bottles, etc... but if I'm just handing you a beer, I probably didn't sanitize the bottle.

Hey homebrewdad, do you have any historical documents/references for the Kentucky Common? I am writing an essay for a history class about the German influence on American brewing and thought the Americommons ^TM would be a good addition.

There is a thread here on the forums where I was asking about the style, and a couple of those type documents were linked by others.

I call mine historically inspired - for instance, I'm using a decent amount of rye, which was probably not present in the historical versions.

Oh, the agony and the ecstasy of the neverending keg.

It sucks. That big aroma punch is long gone, but it's still a nice, fruity, hoppy beer. But I want that keg!

I may just bottle the rest off the keg and call it good.

Expectation: This keg cant have more than a pint or two left in it...
Reality: Still 3 gallons left.

Expectation: This keg was just tapped a week ago, must still have 3 gallons in it!
Reality: PSHHHHHHHHHH + foam after half a pour.

Every. Damn. Time.

There's no law against dumping the keg down the drain and re-filling it.
