So I got a vial of this "Frankenyeast" from a guy on reddit, and I'm trying to figure out what to brew with it. My inclination is an English brown or the like... but darn it, I have an English brown on hand right now, plus I have my Kentucky Common, which while quite different, is still pretty malty.

Then again, this yest blend seems to lend itself to a malty beer.

That thing is gonna be an ester bomb!

When was the last time you did an English strong ale? Maybe a Barleywine or an Old Ale? Think of all the C-malts you can use!

Hmm. Something like my Christmas beer, but with a super estery yeast blend as opposed to the phenolics I ended up with? That might be fun...

Something where the yeast character can shine through (if it does) but will be good with no yeast character. Maybe like a Pale Ale which can be good with clean, fruity, or "Belgian" yeast character.

That's an interesting idea, Chino. I had been planning on doing a fruity IPA before I got this yeast. Hmmm....

Brew 10 Bitters in a row reusing the yeast and follow the changes in taste.
Or even better, brew 10 sets of 2 Bitters, one top cropping and one harvesting the yeast from the bottom.

10 bitters?

Necropaw is right. I will NEVER get through them all.

Maybe i should brew an ESB this weekend...was going to do my BU Amber rebrew, but the HBS was out of 1056.

Was just going to split a batch using a london ale strain and US-05, but a split batch of ESB sounds damn good, too....I wonder if i have 20lbs of MO in the basement...

lol... I LOVE the idea from an intellectual standpoint, ingoogni. From a practical standpoint, I'm trying to settle on a beer recipe that might play well with this.

Hmm. I wonder.

Would fruity hops play well with this crazy yeast, do you think? I'm itching for a hoppy beer. I doesn't have to be "full pound of hops" level insanity, but I'd like some hop aroma.

Anything from Bitter to ESB or PAle Ale will do. Just keep'em simple two malts and a nice hand of E.K.G.
