It looked like Stonehands won 2 categories in the same division without placing in the top 3 in division. Hopefully he takes down a homebrew hero spot! If I remember correctly he was in the BOS round last year as well.

Sorry let me clarify.  I was very excited to see my beer won its category!  Just did not make the cut for top 3 in the division...so close is my meh.

As much as I wanted a cape this year, and I entered 3 beers to do just that, my English IPA was so bad, no way it got a 30. I contemplated not sending anything in for that category. I sent it in anyway. Apparently I can knock a lager out of the park but ales baffle me. So pumped I got two golds on a couple of my favorite styles though. Still have plenty of stuff to figure out in other areas obviously!

Nice job!  I had a beer do that at the Michigan Homebrew festival this year.  It nabbed a silver.  It was just a throw in beer to get some feedback on.

Yea, a cape was definitely my goal as well. Took silver with my Amber, which I'm happy about. I thought my english IPA would do fairly well, so I'm interested to see the scores for that. My dubbel was....less than stellar. I'd be surprised to see it punch above 30.

In any case, I hope you scrape out a 30 on your English IPA. I bet that would be enough to get you a cape given your others did so well. Good luck!

My Amber did well, and i think my IPA will do okay....but my yeast for my Bitter must have been absolute dog shit.

Ive been drinking it...sparingly....barely....out of torture.

Anxious to read the judge comments on it.

If all that is true, im in the same boat as last year. Pretty awesome good beer, pretty decent mediocre beer, and absolute dog shit for my 3rd beer T-T;

Congrats on the medal!

And I totally feel you on the regression. I'm really looking forward to score sheets when they come out, especially for the ipa. The dubbel has a flaw I can't pinpoint so I'd like to see that one as well. Still a fantastic competition. I brewed two iterations of all my submissions and it was fun comparing them to commercial styles and making changes and such. Learned a lot about brewing to style and doing some pseudo judging on my own

Yeah man, i wanna know what the judges said on the Bitter.

I thought the wort tasted good, but i just seem to be fucking terrible on one fermentation per year for this shit. I think i was in contention for a cape last year other than one of my beers...might have been a lager? I dont remember >.< Almost certain it was my Bock that did poorly.

On a related note, Olan...can i still see my scores from last year on BU.com?

I would personally be fine with that, but I will check with the site directors to see how they feel about it.

You should be able to see last year's scores. If not, I'll update to allow it.
