No, I will keep my entries as is.

It's those entries or nothing for me.

Updating the rules to say "American strain" is fair, and consistent.

If you want to be completely accurate, the judge rulings are strict. Since I am not personally judging, I do not feel qualified to hand out ruling unilaterally. Every single ruling regarding ingredients is done by a majority vote of the Site Directors (aka head judges), with me serving as nothing more than a tie breaking vote, if necessary.

That said, I appreciate the ask first mentality!

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!

That's a fair ruling. I was just giving Dan shit.

It would be nice if future BU Challenges considered making sure one readily available liquid and one readily available dry strain are permitted when it comes to lagers.

It's something to keep in mind for sure.

Since we're on the topic of yeast are there any rules stating we can't make a five gallon batch, split it into 2.5 gallon batches to ferment, and use different yeasts (each variety obviously being within the category's guidelines)?  I know we have to submit the recipe and all that good stuff so I imagine it would need to be documented as part of that.

Edit:  Let me add to that question that I ask for the sake of seeing how each yeast does with a given batch of wort and submitting beer from only one of the two carboys.

Quick Q on recipe entry. When you activate recipe entry, can we just upload a .bsm or BeerXML file? Or do we have to enter info manually? It would be pretty slick if we could just upload the file, because not only would it save us time, but also because you then could quickly upload the winning recipes into the recipe database.

You will be able to use beerxml.

All contest recipes are actually saved in the database, no matter how they ate entered.

Alright, this is probably a stupid question, but: so long as we conform to the requirements listed in each division, we can use ingredients from outside of the geographic region, correct? SO basically so long as I meet the base and specialty malt requirements, I can choose grains from anywhere to fill out the grain bill?

That is correct.

Stupid question indeed. On the other hand, you're a wizard when it comes to prompt responses to questions. Well done.

So I tried a Blonde Ale for the SMaSH category using HBC 438, what are the odds of changing to a different style within a week or so of the deadline?  Thinking of doing 2 more SMaSHes over the next week to see what I like best.  Took a gravity sample (and tasted) of the HBC 438 beer and I don't know if it fits the Blonde Ale category.

Another Q: Since I have two beers in the American division, can I send them both in the same package?
