Stumbled across the site and thought I'd give it a whirl. My name is Frank. I'm originally from NJ but now live in Nevada. New to brewing and looking forward to some good interaction here. Bottled my second batch, Vanilla Stout, on Saturday and brewed a Dunkelweizen on Sunday. Still haven't seen any action in my Dunkel but I'm keeping hope alive!

Hi and welcome.  What recipe did you use for the Dunkel?  How much yeast did you pitch?

Thanks!

It was a pretty straight forward recipe I got from HBT. I used  1 pk of Mangrove Jack's Bavarian Hefe Yeast. Pitched at 70 degrees but haven't had much activity.

Did you rehydrate or just dump it in?  Either way, it sounds like it might be time for another round of yeast.

I just dumped it. If I have no activity by tomorrow I guess I'll head to the LHBS and pick up some better yeast.

I doubt you need better yeast. I've had it take a couple days for activity to start from a dry pitch. I would just give it a day or 2 more and I bet it'll take off.

I hope so. I'd hate to have wasted all that wonderful grain!
