OK, so today I finally got around to adding the BJCP 2015 Guidelines to my desktop edition of BeerSmith. While I was doing so, I discovered a world of add-ons I had no clue were there.

Now, I've heard many of you complain about various hops/malts/yeast that weren't on the ingredients list. Well, many of them are in the add-ons waiting for you unless you just want to keep complaining.....

1. On the lowest bar above your tabs click on the puzzle piece/ Add-ons

2. In the Add-ons dialog box, click on the green plus sign/ Add.

3. A fairly lengthy list of malts, yeast updates, hops updates, and the 2015 BJCP guidelines comes up. Click on any you want to add.

4. Stop complaining.......;-)

Awesome.  I've added the odd one off malt or hop.  Didn't realize I could do this.

Thanks!

That's great to hear!

If you add the 2015 guidelines are 2008 still available or are they replaced?

Im pretty sure it lets you use either.

I just had to reinstall it on my phone since i got the new one, and im almost certain it lets you flip back and forth.  Im actually thinking it does that on my desktop version, too....but i might have already added in those addons a while back.  i thought there was a post on reddit about it or something.

On the mobile app you have to go to the advanced options menu and theres a slider that lets you go back and forth between them.  Not sure where it is on desktop.  Im not at home to check.

Just make sure to check the malts against the analysis sheets... Still find errors, and they are incomplete lists.

Well that was easy! Just click to install the add on and then under options > brewing select the guideline to use. So the 2008 are still there. This is great. Thanks for the post!

Yeah, well, I'm planning to use this as the first test of the "awesome thread/content" system we mentioned before.  Prepare to be so tagged today.

Hah, I didn't realize folks didn't know about the add-on feature. There is a *huge* button on the interface!

I had seen it, but didn't ever pay attention to what it did.

I think the problem is that when you click it there isn't a list in the box for you to consider until you click on the 'Plus sign/Add'. It's not super intuitive.

I pretty much exclusively use the mobile version on Android, I didn't even own the desktop version for the longest time.
