> And he'd still want to start kegging then, because bottling that much sucks :P

Bottling one batch (especially smaller batches) isn't so bad.

Bottling multiple batches the same night... Not the best idea I ever had. Bottling truly sucks then.

I've recently done a couple of BIAB batches (3 gallons). I loved it. Its just great having less to clean. No complaints on quality either. One of the beers was an ESB I entered into the BU challenge and it fared pretty well.

By "fared pretty well" he means "scored fantastically, won a competitive style category, and also won gold for the Balanced Division".

Just in case anyone was confused.

OK - I will probably end up with BIAB in the end, but I feel like I need to suffer a little more by trying more traditional mashing and sparging techniques.
It's good to know that BIAB can be successful, but something tells me that in this case it was the brewer, not the method that made the difference.
Congratulations!

For what it's worth, I have no interest in going to BIAB, myself. I love my cooler.

But man, having a Brew Bag in it makes it so much easier. Cleanup is a breeze. Stuck sparges are literally impossible.

My next brew will be 10 parts barley flour to 1 part cornstarch.

Compact the grain bed. Garanteed stuck lauter. Doesn't matter what sort of filter you have.

I actually replaced my false bottom with my bag this weekend for a 5 gallon batch. I liked this method as well. Gave me improved capacity with less to clean and no risk of a stuck sparge.
