So, I think that I have made up my mind. Why do something right when you can do it excessively?
My freezer will fit four kegs on the bottom. With a collar, I can get one on the hump - and I feel like I can make that two. Six taps? Why not?
So, I'll build a big 2x4 frame, with a pretty enclosed compartment for my CO2 tank and temp controller (because hey, it's ugly). Run the hose from there inside, split it up, power the various kegs.
Employ a computer fan or two to circulate the cold air and keep the tower (and thus, the beer lines) cool.
Use pocket screws, wood glue, and butt joints wherever possible. Use pretty plywood for the outside, then add trim that is screwed on from the inside to make things pretty.
Probably go with some sort of tile for the top, maybe add some lights for fun.
So... what am I overlooking? Aside from the obvious major time sink (I expect this will take me weeks to finish in 1-2 hour bites).

You're gonna be mad this thing lives in the garage when you're done. It'll be deserving of living space.

Maybe that'll happen...

Mine lives on the back patio... Easy entertaining ;-)

I kinda wish mine was upstairs. Though i guess going to the basement for a beer is about the most exercise i get this time of year.....
Cleaning in general is easier down there, too. I have a kitchen like 25' away with all my brewing stuff already there.

You'll want room for 2-3 more than you have taps. That way you can carbonate beer before it goes on tap, and maybe lager.

Cold crashing in the keezer is nice, too. Thats actually what ive been using the hump for in mine. Easier to lift BB's in and out that way.

Agree with Eric. Either be prepared to live with vacant taps, or buy a freezer that'll hold at least a couple kegs more than you have taps.

I fully expect to live with some vacant taps. Even if I devote a tap to something kid friendly (I'm really considering keeping some sparkling juice on tap for them), I doubt I keep five different taps hopping (hah!) at all times.

I fit 6 in my keezer and run 4 taps. This way I can have a backup or two carbing and/or conditioning. With 6 taps I'd feel pressured to keep 6 beers on.
