I mean, seriously.

Pitched my Dunkel starter tonight. Super familiar scenario.

Okay, self. Careful, now. Here comes the bar. Easy... easy.... CLINK. *&^#%^#!!

If I had to wager a guess, I'd say that I have easily pitched the stir bar a minimum of 75% of the time.

Uhh...use a magnet to grab it as soon as you take it off the plate?

I got a 10 pack of those neodymium magnets that are like 3/8" diameter. I just put one on the outside of the flask.

They also hold my post it notes in place on the keezer to mark which tap is what.

StirStarters come with a tiny magnet. I've made plenty of mistakes, but, pitching a stir bar has yet to be one of them.

LOL - I've never done it... but I know a lot of people that have...

Ok, not a lot... One.. I know one person that's done it... He's overly fond of bright orange too....

I've done it once, forgot I did, then watched the stir bar go down my utility sink drain as I was cleaning that fermentor.

Never done it either, first thing I do is clink the magnet to the bar when I pick it up.

I think you misinterpreted. You are most certainly not a moron. You could just as easily purchase a lot more stir bars.....

I think for a while i actually used a 2nd stir bar to hold the inner one in place, but a magnet is definitely stronger.
