I can handle no crystal. Really!
Frakenhop sounds like fun, but I think that's a different brew. I really want to go with 2, maybe 3, varieties... one almost surely being El Dorado.
Time to start reading aroma descriptions, I guess.

frankenhop does sound kinda fun. I have too many projects i need to get working on as is, though...and not enough fermenters.
I should have bought a couple buckets the other day when i went to the HBS.

Hmm. I guess that, technically, I could split batch into the little buckets and try some different dry hop profiles. Problem is, I don't have enough kegs for that. I mean, I'd have to bottle the beer like some kid of savage...

Some things just arent worth it, man.

The problem I have with "frankenhop" beers is that it all just kinda blurs together into "spicy/vegetal." People lost their minds over Pizza Port's Hop 15, but I was not impressed at all. No one flavor is distinct and it's all pegged to the max. IMO it's best to have a POV with the hops you're using (citrus/fruity, melon/berry, etc) or it just comes out "brown."

Melon/berry? What hops present as "berry"?
I totally see where you are coming from on the brown perspective.

Mosaic is (IMO) straight berry-town.

Hmm. I get a lot of resin/earthy stuff from Mosaic.

I really dont think i like mosaic. Ive been using some up in my last few hoppy beers, and i just dont like the character.

True story: I made a single hop Black IPA a little while ago and when I brought it to my club they all thought I had aged it on berries.

Hmmm....
What about Rakau? that sounds like it might play really well with El Dorado.

>People lost their minds over Pizza Port's *fill in the blank with whatever you want beer*
I agree with you, Derek, and have been keeping most of my beers to no more than 3, maybe 4, varieties.

Rakau doesn't have much character, IME. Pleasant with Galaxy, but invisible.

So... Galaxy is pleasant!

That's a bummer. The listings I read talk about it being bold and brash. :/
