According to Brungard, polyphenols can be formed by chlorine in the mash. However, given decoction, I would expect the chlorine to be denatured, along with some of the chlorophenols.

A good deal of it would gas off as you heat to strike temps. Chloramines - that is another story.

Sorry man.

Yeah, well, they just found E. Coli in a small segment of the water here in High Point. I'm now intent on calling the Belgian Pale I made yesterday "Chloramine Pale Ale"

Well, again, I'm just gonna see what I have. No point in doing anything else, now.

My brew day wasnt the absolute worst, but just a fair few little things that annoyed me.

Went full retard because i was short on time right before the boil ended and was trying to find my 'gold' hops in the freezer, and couldnt. Hey dumbass, its Amarillo Gold, but most just put Amarillo. Derrrrrrrp.

Chilling took forever and i have no idea why. I need to temp my groundwater, but with as chilly as the last couple days have been, i cant see how its that warm.

Was a tad short on wort, but nothing terrible. One keg just wont be quite full.

The wort tasted pretty good though, so as long as i dont get an infection (that'd be my luck) i should be okay.

Now to try to convince myself to brew thursday night after work...that just sounds like a bad idea, but idk when the fuck else im going to brew.

So on my way to work this morning i realized that im an idiot.

Im pretty sure i still have some Simpsons Double Roasted crystal at home, and if not I could have picked some up at the HBS when i was down there last week. I could have used that in a bitter or english IPA this weekend...

To be honest, im a touch disappointed that when i asked if they had any British crystal malt, the guy there didnt mention it.
