Today I had a not so pleasant experience while bottling beer. I was using my tried and true stand up bottle capper. For some reason I have always been compelled to place the bottle with my left hand and cap it with my right. I keep my left hand on the bottle to stabilize it and also to remove it and retrieve the next bottle as efficiently as possible. Today a bottle shattered under the pressure of the capper and led me to the emergency room. I was fortunate that the damage was limited to two fingers and 5 stitches. I share this with everyone, not for sympathy, but to help others to avoid my disregard for the fact that glass sometimes breaks. Also hoping that others may use this thread to help others avoid accidents in Brewing even if they don't involve a trip to the hospital.

Damn! Sorry to hear about that! That's exactly why I just let the bottle sit without touching it.

Yeah - it makes sense to avoid any potential breaking glass. Hoping others will read this and avoid my stupid mistake.
For the record I also froze 5 gallons of Vienna Lager wort when the temperature probe slipped out of my chest freezer a.k.a. fermenting chamber.
