Brewing never seems to be lacking in surprises, no matter how many times you do it.  I finally got to brew in the new house.  I did a split batch that will eventually be a saison and a tripel.  Once I hit boil, I skimmed the break and walked off for a bit to do some chores.  I come back at 75 minutes to see something that looks like ping pong balls in the wort.  I fish one out and it looks exactly like a matzo ball.  It's protein break.  I must have had 9 to 10 solid balls like that floating in the wort, all almost perfectly round.  I fished them out and had fun watching them explode as the hit the lawn.  I've seen break do a lot of weird things, but I've never had it end up looking like balls or any formation that large and solid.  Wort ended up exceptionally clear too.

Just wondering if any of you have had anything exceptionally weird happen to you like this?
