Hey!

I'm just looking for first hand experiences using or tasting a beer made with Wyeast 2002-PC (Gambrinus Lager), TYB Franconian Dark Lager, or TYB Hessian Pils.

I'm thinking it's about lager time again and I'd like to try something new.  I love WLP833 if that gives any ideas about my lager preferences.

When do you plan on brewing? I could do a Bo Pils split batch again next month and split half of it with one of these, then let you know or send you a bottle of each to let you taste the yeast differences.

Ha I won't pretend there isn't anything in it for me! I really want to nail down this Bo Pils, and so if I have an excuse to use some new yeasts, I'm all for it. Plus, it adds some yeast to my yeast bank, helps out Gary, and gets some good information to the homebrewing community. It's like a win-win-win-win

I'd love to see a split between Hessian Pils and 2002-PC.  I've got nothing specific on the brewing docket right now, so it's pretty much whatever.  The only driver is 2002-PC is limited release and I think it's only available through March.  Thanks for the offer!

For sure! I can get my hands on some 2002-PC. Hessian pils is sold out, so I'm going to use Bohemian Lager yeast for the split batch. Bohemian Pils is currently my favorite, so it'll be nice to measure those against each other. I can send you a yeast sample of 2002-PC when I  send beers as well.

Let me know if you'd like me to go ahead with this, or if there is a different yeast you'd like to see against 2002-pc!

Too late this is happening now.

Biobrewer just posted here.  Maybe he can hook you up ;-)

By Bo Lager, you're talking 830, right?  I'd dig that.

I'll hit him up! I'd love to try it.

By Bohemian Lager I mean WYeast 2124. Some people say it is the same as WLP830, others disagree, I'm not really sure! It is good though, better than both WYeast Urquell Lager yeast and WYeast Pilsen Lager, those are the only two I've weighed it against. Next up, 2002-PC!

Hey Matt,

This might not work for you this time around, but I have some WLP920 (Old Bavarian Lager) that is quite nice IMO.  I could probably hook you up.

Incredibly interested Olan! And, of course, you'd get some product

Let me see if I have a spare vial or two.  If so, I'll just ship it.  If not, I'll spin up a starter.

Awesome! Let me know what shipping is and I'll pay it, or if you'd rather have some of the beer (or any other beer in my reserves right now) I'd be happy to send that as well.

Psh, I'm not worried about it.  You can send me beer if you like, send me some yeast at a future date, or just pay it forward.

I just checked.  I have five partial vials - i.e. I didn't get much in any of them; spitballing, I'd say they are each around 20B-30B cells, but I never got around to combining them.

I could combine say, three of them for you, then ship one vial out.  You ought to get enough yeast to spin a starter up from, yes?  Or, I can get a starter going, but that'll add a few day to the process.

Let me know which way you want to go, and either email or PM me your mailing info.
