Just brewed a Citra IPA with a buddy from my club. He had a pound of citra he wanted to use so I worked up a Double Sunshine/Kern River Citra inspired IPA, but at a more drinkable strength.

Well, you know me... I'm going to say that some complexity to the malt profile is a good thing.

I bet that'd be a great fall beer with the bit of extra maltiness. Summer maybe not so much.
Man i wish i had a pound of citra to burn through....

Get your "malt complexity" out of my Citra hop water!
Kidding, I actually like using characterful base malt in my IPA's I just use less specialty grain when I do that.Posted 34 days ago.
Looking forward to hearing how this one pans out. Ever since I had a citra IPA brewed by Otter Creek (in VT), I've been itching to brew one like this.

I should convince my mom to make sure shes up early enough on sunday when we go to milwaukee to stop at NB. Though idk, i was hoping to get some bulk stuff from them, but it doesnt look like they have yeast energizer in bulk (yet the HBS i normally go to does...? Also NB's bulk yeast nutrient is like 3.5x as expensive...
Oh well, i should definitely get some yeast at the very least.

Looks like a good recipe. My last one was a little lighter at 7.5% and is great.
So I just found out that 55lb of our mash from the big batch was Crisp's version of Maris Otter... Which explains why this was slightly more malty. I actually preferred it to be honest. I bet yours will come out great.
