10 ounce dry hop! Holy crap.

Better keep contact time super short. I feel like that could get vegetal really quick.

Incidentally... that year old yeast was fermenting away nicely when I got up this morning. I did employ a heating pad, though, as I'm wanting to ferment this one a bit warmer in hopes of getting more peach from the yeast.

Good grief... you should smell my fermentation chamber. I have never experienced hoppiness like this at this stage.

I remember my first beer with more than 5oz of hops.

My previous high was 9.5 ounces - only 3.5 ounces in the kettle.

This is six ounces in the kettle, sixteen total. I won't dry hop for a few days yet.

7.75oz might be my record. Not sure.

I need to rebrew my beer from the BU challenge now that i have the hops again. I am kinda glad i found a way to use centennial that i actually like...

Though i'll probably use pale malt instead of pils so i can do a 20 minute boil.

Though ive seen the evidence that short pils boils dont produce DMS, i just feel safer with a higher modified malt.

Ive actually only dry hopped once or twice, though. I do a TON of late additions (2 minutes or less), and have done a fair amount of whirlpool/flameout additions....

I really want to do my Wandering Barbarian IPA again, but I had these hops on hand - and good quantities - so an "excess IPA" seemed in order.

I'm planning to use Dan's method of a small sugar addition when I do the dry hop. Just to hopefully scavenge any oxygen that I introduce along with all of those pellets.

Why not just dry hop when youre at 95% attentuation?

Though i can see the point behind the sugar addition. a bit less body on my 7.3% APA wouldnt have been a bad thing.

My tongue is off tonight though. Im looking forward to it being back on by Wednesday so i an rate my beers on tap currently. Currently im picking up weird flavors, which is entirely because im not feeling well.

That would work, too, though I'm lazy and don't take gravity readings until everything is all said and done. I'm thinking something small like 4 ounces of table sugar.

I can relate. I dont take readings, and frankly if im gone at least 46% of the day for work, plus sleeping 30% of the day, my odds of being home at that time are slim.
