I have 4-5 gallon and 4-3 gallon for a total of 8. I used to use the 3s a lot, used to split a batch and lager in a mini fridge, now I really don't as much since I have a keezer now. Anyone want to trade two 3 gallon kegs for a sixtel? Keezer holds 4-5 gallon ball locks and another 3 gallon on the hump. 3 taps. Perfect for me. My one 5 gallon with the loose handle bothers me. Need to figure out a way to secure it.

my 5's are all loose handle kegs, but only one has issues, and thats actually with the base, not the handle.  Ive been meaning to epoxy it back on or something, but just dont care enough about it.  It works as is.

I should be cleaning kegs tonight so i can rack tomorrow or saturday, but the Packers are on, and with as bad as the Brewers have been, ill even take preseason football at this point...plus this is WI and its the Packers, so yeah.

:( I jinxed myself.  The keg just kicked.

Still, it took...quite a while...to kick that keg.

I gotta brew something in that low ABV range once this competition is over.  I miss being able to drink more beer :(  These 5.5% styles are ruining that D:

Is there a Brew United fantasy football league?

I have one (thanks to Brian Hall), but no keezer or kegging equipment. The slope is not slippery yet, but it's starting to feel a little like loose gravel because I've been checking out Craigslist for freezers.

No fantasy football yet.  I could see that day coming.

Or, you could, ya know, start one.  :)

$30 is the absolute lowest I have seen, and $40 seems like a real good price. Note that MoreBeer has it for the same price and if you add $15.01 of other stuff you will get free shipping.

Chino, I will say without a shadow of a doubt, that Kegging was the best upgrade I made. Beer is more convenient, less mess, more portable (NOT LESS - despite what people say, Sediment free growlers are WAY easier for taking to a buddies house than bottle-conditioned), evenly carbonated, fresher, turnaround is quicker so you can iterate on recipes faster. I don't think anything I have done made me a BETTER BREWER the way kegging did.

I am not lying when I say that, aside from cost, I cannot name a single benefit to bottling. Perhaps aging some beers, though that would probably still be better in kegs (aside from space concerns).

Fully agree.  Besides just the growlers like youre talking about, if youre having a party away from home or something, lugging around a CO2 tank and keg (or three) is still easier (imo) than 2-6 cases of glass bottles, especially since you have to keep track of all those bottles then.

Ray, you think kegging made you a better brewer than any yeast management upgrades (including temp control)?

I never really brewed without those other things Dan. Temp controller was up and running while I was drinking batch one. Starters started on batch two with all grain.
