So I recently came into a free power supply that was being thrown out at work.. We've used it for testing equipment in a lab, but I'm trying to brainstorm and think if there's some application to brewing it could be used for.. either control current going into a heating element for electric brewing, or somehow incorporating it with my fermentation chamber, or something entirely different that I'm not thinking of.. thoughts?

Output: 0-30Vdc, 3A
Fixed Voltage: 5V, 500mA
Fixed Voltage: 12V/500mA
Input: 110Vac/220Vac 50Hz/60Hz

Sounds like a stir plate controller to me. Could control one SERIOUS stirplate though.

I'm not sure if there are many applications of a DC voltage reg in homebrewing. It would need to be able to control a larger, AC voltage regulator to really be useful in fermentation or brew system control.

yea, it's just such a neat piece of equipment that does such a specific thing.. I'm trying to think if there'd be a good use for it (besides a circuits lab)..

lol @ stir entire carboy.. excuse me while I google search the largest stir bar I can buy..

this might be a funny experiment if nothing else.. 6.5in stir bar would definitely get a good vortex..
