Just got my acceptance email today!
Thinking about entering:
* Fiesta Cumpleaos - Vienna Lager
* Top O' The Mornin' - Oatmeal Stout w/ Coffee (Breakfast Stout)
* Bob's Your Uncle - English IPA
* Mit Schuss - Berliner Weisse
Who else is competing? What are you entering?

Congrats on acceptance!
I like that lineup.
I keep saying I'll enter next year. Next year never seems to come for me.

I wanted to go as big as I could this year since I'll be in San Diego for the awards ceremony. Probably a small chance of winning in the 2nd round, but a boy can dream :)

Oooh! Haven't gotten mine yet, but I also registered for 4.
* Dry Stout
* Scottish 70-
* Czech Pilsner
* TBD

Got 4 of my 6 in. I'm thinking...
Cal Common
German Pils
Vienna Lager
Either Mrzen or Klsch or Altbier

Assuming my technically late entry wasn't some fluke, and I get an acceptance email, I'll be going with 4 of the following:
Vienna Lager
Saison
Berliner/Gueuze
Am. Barleywine
APA/IPA
theoretically I could enter an Impy Stout or Tripel/Golden Strong if I don't get some of the quicker turnaround beers done. But I'm pretty concerned the impy stout is a little soy saucy. I wish I knew where that comes from.
Marshall, Your Vienna going to be 029 or real Lager yeast?

Mine just popped into my inbox...
All four entries accepted - so now to figure up the lineup.
1.) Sour Saison that is aging into properly lacto heaven
2.) Belgian Dubbel dosed with bochet'd honey rather than dark candy
3.) Mild Manner Mistress
4.) Either an amber or red ale of some kind, although I might try some kind of nutso all hopback late hopped IPA. Maybe even a big barleywine hopped to hell as a DIPA

> Sour Saison that is aging into properly lacto heaven
Are you going to enter it as a Saison or Belgian Specialty?

Oh man, wouldn't it be awesome if the HBD krew swept the Euro Amber Lager cat with our Viennas?
@brulosopher What judging center are you delivering to?

It will go in as a Belgian Specialty most likely. I have entered a previous batch as a saison and it did very well (42 ave), but got tossed out of BOS because it was too far out of style and I suspect someone didn't like sours at all. They suggested entering it as a Category 17 - but it isn't a flanders by any stretch.

I got my one spot. I'm thinking either a saison or an English pale ale of some sort -- currently stuck between which of the 3 in that category would be best.
Maybe I should make a Vienna lager, though...

Give 'em hell, guys. I can't wait to see some award ribbons go up in the recipe database for this year's NHC.

If you haven't gotten your email yet, you can log on to brewingcompetition.com to see your entries and edit them. They are staggering emails to entrants to try to keep load on the site low. You have until March 11 to edit entries and deliver them, so you can decide which styles to enter all the way to the very last minute.

Oh shoot, just noticed due date is March 11th, for some reason I thought it was going to be in April. Might have to re-think my entries, not sure I'll have time to have three brews finished by then!

Hmm... after reading Scott Janish's post today I've decided to swap things around a bit:
* Fiesta Cumpleaos - Vienna Lager
* Top O' The Mornin' - Oatmeal Stout w/ Coffee (Breakfast Stout)
* Extra Bestest Boy - ESB
* Latir Pils - German Pilsner
I figure entering an IPA in San Diego is a fools errand, so I'll cut back on the throttle a bit and make an ESB instead :) Latir Pils is done already, so I'll just bottle it up and call it good.
