I've had to open 'er up to take samples for the hydro more than usual.  That and the re-pitched Notty... This stuff looked very different from any other batch I've looked at.

Unless you have a "skin" on top, or you have large "pastic-y" bubbles that don't pop, you're almost always okay.  Small clumps of bubbles, green/brown/yellow/white crap, stringy stuff, snot-like stuff, floating brain matter... all are normal.  Fermentation is ugly.
