And Gary.

Gary's pretty important. I mean, he only has one name.

And he knows Spongebob.
So based on the direction this conversation has headed, everyone else is tapping their foot waiting for 5:00?

Right, Gary, with shades and trench coat.

Dude. I think that I like "Iron Brewer" Challenge.

Well, some beer is going in kegs tonight, which means some beer is probably getting dumped. My apologies to the alcoholics who could use that nasty beer.

Im out of homebrew :( I mean, i have some stuff bottled up (that i dont really remember what it is...one batch has a bit of an off flavor, not sure about the other)
I need to brew at least 10 gallons tomorrow, and make it something with a quick turnaround (will probably use SD Super Yeast). Was going to brew Sunday as well, but just bought tickets to the Brewers game (yay, first one of the year!). I even have a DD, so alcoholism will be in full effect that day :D

My local club uses that. We have our annual "Iron Brewer" competition, and that's exactly what it is. But we pick 1 strange ingredient to use. last year was wood-aged, this year was Wyeast forbidden fruit yeast. Next year we are thinking maybe peppers.
Mike, YES. But I'm waiting for maybe 4:15 or 4:30 or so. Whenever I feel it's safe to sneak out.
Going to a Timber Rattlers game tonight. I fucked up and thought Lucroy would be playing. As soon as they announced his rehab start with "Single-A", I swiped up 6 pretty nice tickets right by the dugout before they all sold out. Welp, turns out he's doing his rehab stint with Single-A BREVARD COUNTY. Fuck me. So now we get to sit there in the smoldering humidity and hope it just gets rained out.

I'd be half tempted to go to a Woodchucks game tonight, but its supposed to rain i think. I need to find a day when theyre at home and the Brewers dont play at night and head over there. its only about 10 miles out of my way headed home from work, which isnt too bad.
Why the hell are they sending him down to Brevard County? I mean, when he comes off the DL we'll probably be in STL, which isnt too awful far from Milwaukee, and closer than the Manatees....

Exactly. It makes no sense. I saw this article a few days ago:
And it says "Out since mid-April with a broken toe, Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy has been cleared to begin a minor-league rehab assignment Wednesday at Single-A."
So I quickly bought tickets. Turns out, for some godawful reason, they sent him to the OTHER single-A club... fuck.

I like the idea of a few set ingredients you HAVE to use in the amounts specified. The rest is up to the brewer. Not quite secret ingredient style, but some room for interpretation. For instance, you have to use 2oz Vanguard hops, 1/2 lb carabrown malt, and an English yeast. I'm just making that up so don't judge me.

Yeah, there is still a little tinkering left to do with the concept. But it is falling together in a hurry!

1. I would avoid using the "Iron Brewer" name or tagline, unless you relish getting cease-and-desist letters from overzealous lawyers representing deep-pocketed media conglomerates.
2. Are we committed to BrewUnited Brewing Challenge, or whatever? I had some other ideas, but my e-mails to the listpost are not getting through:BrewUnited
Cup. You'd need an actual cup to give to the best in show each year,
and the winner should fill it w/ beer and drink out of it. Seriously.

Otherwise something with alliteration or humor or both would be better. For example, Upper Mississippi Mashout has alliteration.

1. Meh. If I was using Iron Chef, I'd be worried. I'm not married to this, anyway, but I'm not overlyworried.
2. I like the cup idea, but I think I prefer the challenge theme. I haven't found the absolute perfect name, but it may not exist.

Also, yeah... it does work a lot like a BOS for the entire thing. I'm not 100% set in stone yet, and I'm having a dialogue with the judges over this.
